Woodlodge Self-Catering Holiday Accommodation
An Idyllic Country Retreat
The house is owner supervised by Tim and Sarah Kindred who run the family farm and Bed & Breakfast at High House Farm, situated only a few hundred yards away. You can therefore rest assured that there is always someone available to give advice and assistance if required, so that your holiday is as relaxing and trouble free as possible.
Woodlodge is about 150 - 200 years old and was formerly a pair of game keepers cottages, hence the superb position set in the middle of ancient coppiced woodland, and the large lawn where pheasants and partridges would have been reared in days gone by. Extensive but sympathetic renovations were carried out in 1983/84 so that the house now contains all modern conveniences whilst still retaining its charm and character. Accommodation comprises:
All bedrooms have fitted carpets, bedside cupboards and lamps, adequate hanging space, drawers etc. As an alternative sleeping arrangement there is a double sofa-bed in the Lounge that can be used in place of the single beds in Bedrooms 1 & 2. Exclusive access is given to guests of Woodlodge and High House Farm to over 18 acres of woodland and 250 acres of farmland, including several miles of hedgerows and twelve ponds. There is a particularly attractive pathway through the wood which is regularly mown. Woodlodge has ample parking space for six cars or more. The nearest public telephone is about ¾ of a mile away although there is a pay-phone at High House Farm. Emergency telephone messages can be received at High House Farm and passed on to guests of Woodlodge as soon as practicable. Duvets and covers are provided. Visitors must provide their own linen and towels, although these can be provided by arrangement at a cost of £5.00 per person per week. Heating is by wood-burning stove which feeds radiators in most of the rooms plus electric heaters in the bath and shower rooms. An ample supply of firewood is provided free of charge and £5.00 worth of electricity is provided free each week. Thereafter, electricity is estimated from the meter reading. We regret that due to the sensitive nature of the wildlife surrounding Woodlodge fireworks at the house are not permitted. Three day breaks are available off season and Woodlodge is also available
for Christmas and New Year bookings. Longer winter lets are negotiable.
Discounts are sometimes available for late availability, check our
pricelist for details.
Woodlodge has now been a holiday cottage for twelve years and has become very popular with many people coming back every year and some two, three, or more times each year. Many people are now booking over a year in advance to avoid disappointment. We are continually trying to find ways of improving the facilities at Woodlodge and in recent years we have installed a ceramic hob double oven, automatic washer/dryer, dish washer, fridge/freezer, colour television, video recorder and a music centre complete with radio, tape, turntable and compact disc player so that you can bring your favourite music and/or videos with you. Woodlodge is featured in the Good Holiday Cottage Guide For availability and prices check our pricelist.
